Chula Vista Halloween Decorations you need to check out for 2024

After my last post about Chula Vista Halloween Decorations, I received a flood of recommendations from all of you—thank you! Our community clearly knows how to celebrate the spooky season in style. From the eerie, spine-chilling homes to more family-friendly displays, there are some real showstoppers that you won’t want to miss.

Whether you’re looking for a fun night out with the kids or want to get into the Halloween spirit, these spots are guaranteed to impress. I’ve compiled a list of the best places to visit based on your suggestions and the houses that I have visited in the past. Trust me, these are worth the drive!

But before you grab your pumpkin spice lattes and head out, let’s go over a few ground rules to keep the Halloween fun going for everyone.

  1. Be respectful to the homeowner and their neighbors. Don’t be that person who climbs over the fence to take a photo. Enjoy the display from the sidewalk and watch your kids.
  2. Do not be that person who stops in the middle of the street to take a photo from their car. Find a parking spot and walk. Yes, you might have to walk a block or two, but this allows you to see the display up close.
  3. Be careful out there. It is dark, and many of these spots have kids walking around. Drive safe and pay attention. Watch for people walking in the street.

Now that we have gotten that out of the way, let’s get to the list.

I love the house on Patricia Street with the Día de Muertos display. All three houses on this block do a great job.

1. H St. & Patricia Avenue (Google Maps)

This is a Halloween hotspot you can’t miss. Three houses on this street go all out every year, and they never disappoint. I was lucky enough to meet two of the homeowners as they were setting up—super cool people who love bringing the Halloween spirit to life. Check out the house with the incredible Día de Muertos display on the porch. Just a heads-up, the street is a bit narrow, so drive carefully!

2. 315 First Ave (South of F Street) (Google Maps)

If you’re looking for something a bit spookier, head to First Ave. This display is all about the creepy factor. If you had seen my Instagram Stories, you’d have remembered the eerie clown who talked to you. He’s just as freaky in person as he is in the video—his stare and voice are enough to give anyone chills. If clowns aren’t your thing, maybe skip this one, but if you’re up for a fright, you’ll love it!

3. 756 Nolan Ave (South of East J St.) (Google Maps)

Known for their amazing Christmas displays, this house has now embraced Halloween with open (and probably creepy) arms. The decorations are fantastic, and there’s even a house across the street worth checking out, too. I’ll be coming back here for my Christmas decorations list, but for now, the Halloween display is a must-see!

4. 661 Floyd Ave (North of East J St.) (Google Maps)

While you’re in the neighborhood checking out Nolan Ave, take a short drive up J St. to Floyd Ave. The Halloween display here is top-notch, and they’ve even got a giant dragon out front that steals the show. Like Nolan Ave, this house also shines during the holidays, so you’ll see them featured on my Christmas decorations list soon!

I shot this photo tonight at Porch Swing Street and they did an amazing job. The whole block has so many great houses. You really need to get out there and see it.

5. Porch Swing Street in Eastlake (Google Maps)

If you only have one night to check out Halloween decorations in Chula Vista, make it Porch Swing Street in Eastlake. This entire block goes all out, and even some side streets join in on the fun. The displays are incredible, with so much effort and creativity. You can drive through, but I highly recommend parking and walking to really take it all in. I haven’t been here on Halloween night, but I imagine it’s an absolute madhouse in the best way possible.

October 19th Update on Porch Swing Street in Eastlake

I was out there tonight, and all I can say is WOW! The neighborhood has truly outdone itself this year. You’ve got to see their incredible work in every house—it’s just stunning! I even had the chance to meet some homeowners, and their passion for bringing joy to the community shines through. They love putting in the effort and let me in on a little secret: come Christmas time, they’re going all out. They’re gearing up for a friendly showdown with Christmas Tree Circle, and I cannot wait to see what they have in store this December!

Dutch Bros Coffee Has Broke Ground

I’ve got the announcement you’ve all been waiting for! Dutch Bros Coffee is officially coming to Chula Vista! The new location will be on Kennedy Street and Third Avenue, just a stone’s throw from Palomar Street. Construction has already begun on what will be a brand-new build, so we’ll need to be patient for a little while—but I promise to keep you posted every step of the way. As of now, no official opening date has been announced.

If you’re like me, you’ll remember when Sonic Burger used to occupy this spot, which has been vacant for quite some time. It’s exciting to see some new life being brought to the area, and I can’t wait to see what this brings to our community!

While filming, I noticed a little coffee gem just 20 feet away—Rose D’Amour Café & Coffee. It got me thinking about their competition when Dutch Bros opens. I can only imagine the challenge ahead for this local business, and I’m rooting for both places to thrive. Supporting local shops like Rose D’Amour is just as important as welcoming new ones like Dutch Bros. Let’s hope they bring something unique to our neighborhood’s coffee scene!

Join Us for Faith & Blue event at the Chula Vista Police Department

 

On Monday, October 14th, from 3 PM to 6 PM, the Chula Vista Police Department and local faith-based organizations invite the entire community to gather for Faith & Blue event. This free event will be held at the Chula Vista Police Department’s front courtyard and promises an afternoon of fun, connection, and meaningful conversations. You will also have the chance to meet Police Officers and ask them questions. Be sure to bring the kids because there will be plenty to see and do during the event.

What to Expect at Faith & Blue event

This family-friendly event has something for everyone! Expect live music to set the tone for a great afternoon, free food and drinks (while supplies last), and engaging presentations by various police units. Highlights include:

  • SWAT Team & UAS (Drone) Demonstrations – Get an up-close look at some specialized teams serving our community.
  • K9 Unit Presentation – A favorite for both kids and adults alike, watch the talented K9 officers in action.
  • Traffic Division Display – Learn about this team’s role in keeping our roads safe.
  • Kidz Zone – Fun activities for the little ones, ensuring everyone in the family has a great time.
  • Photo Opportunities – There are plenty of chances to capture memories with the Chula Vista Police and their fantastic team.

Building Bridges in Our Community

Faith & Blue event is part of a national initiative that brings communities and law enforcement together to build trust, create understanding, and promote justice and reconciliation. As Reverend Markel Hutchins, CEO of MovementForward, Inc., and organizer of the National Faith & Blue Weekend, says, “There’s not a problem in this country…that we cannot solve if we dare to sit together, reason together, and converse together.”

The Chula Vista Police Department is proud to participate in this event for the second time and expects over 500 attendees. By working closely with faith-based organizations and other community groups, the department aims to keep lines of communication open and foster stronger relationships with all community members.
