Can you believe it is already that time of year? We might not get any snow or winter temperatures, but Christmas is in the air, and the big day is right around the corner. One thing I love about Chula Vista is that we know how to decorate, and so many homeowners go all year to make it memorable. Every year, I go out and discover new areas and homes to visit. Last year, so many of you reached out and sent me so many cool spots to see Christmas lights. This year, I decided to make a “Chula Vista’s Holiday Lights Guide” that will help you get out there and enjoy the decorations. Many of these areas you might know already, but I have some that you might have never heard about. I have also created a Google Maps to help you locate them. I will update the map as more places are sent to me.

First, Let’s go over some etiquette
Alright, Chula Vista. Before we get to the list of top places to see Christmas decorations, let’s talk about some quick and simple etiquette to keep these displays going strong year after year. Homeowners love to show off their festive setups, but a little respect goes a long way to ensure they keep doing it every year.
- Don’t be that person who steps over barriers or sneaks onto lawns to get the “perfect” shot. These displays look just as fantastic from a safe distance—trust me.
- Avoid parking in the middle of the street for a quick photo from your car. Not only does it clog up the road, but honestly, your pictures aren’t going to be award-winners from that angle. Park safely, hop out, and take a stroll. You’ll get better views, and you won’t be blocking everyone else’s good time.
- Here’s the big one: stay safe and keep an eye out. It’s dark, many of the spots are busy, and kids might be running around. Drive carefully, pay attention, and let’s make it a safe and enjoyable night for everyone!
Now that we have gotten that out, let’s get to the locations.
Christmas Circle
Anyone who has lived in Chula Vista for some time, and even outside of Chula Vista, knows about this spot. They have been doing this for over 60 years, and it continues to draw a large crowd. I highly suggest you visit this one during the week and avoid the weekends, as it is just crazy. Last year, the traffic trying to get in was lined up all the way up H Street.
This year, the Christmas Circle will start on Saturday, December 14th, at 5 PM. They usually shut off the lights at 10 PM. You should walk this one to really see all the beauty of the lights and decorations. They also have vendors out front serving up hot dogs, hot chocolate, coffee, and more. It truly is a Christmas staple in the South Bay.

Porch Swing Street
This neighborhood did an amazing job for Halloween, and this year, they’re going to go even bigger for Christmas. I was out there for Halloween and spoke to some of the homeowners. They have big plans this year to be even bigger than Christmas Tree Circle. I can’t wait to see it. Last year, it was amazing. So many homes were decorated all over the area. You can walk this one, but be ready because there are a lot of streets to walk on.
756 Nolan Avenue
Last year many of you had sent me this address and when I finally got the chance to check it out I was blown away. How did I not know about this house. There are actually two houses here that have gone above and beyond in holiday decor. The homeowners were even nice enough to let my wife and I tour the inside. You really need to stop and see these houses and just take in all of the hard work they have put into them.
506 Patricia Avenue
This is another set of houses that did a great job for Halloween and an amazing job for Christmas. I have spoken with the homeowners, and they love doing it every year. You can easily find this street if you drive west down H St. The house on the corner lights up the night, and you can’t miss it. Word of caution: the street is very tight, so you really need to pay attention to this area.
678 Floyd Avenue
Here is another house a follower shared with me last year. It’s close from the Nolan Avenue houses, so take the short drive up East J St and you will find it. They have a beautiful display out front and even in the corner window of the home. You can also see some other houses in the area that have also started to go big with their holiday decorations.
