Owned by siblings Nick and Manny Gutierrez, Denki’s Boba brings a unique blend of high-quality boba drinks and a fun, anime-inspired atmosphere. The shop’s walls are adorned with colorful anime art, creating a lively and welcoming vibe that feels like stepping into a manga world. Whether you’re a longtime boba fan or new to the trend, the menu offers something for everyone, with a wide variety of flavors and toppings to choose from.

Visitors raved about the delicious drinks and exceptional service during the grand opening. Popular picks included the Taro Almond Milk Tea with brown sugar boba, the Strawberry Matcha with strawberry popping Boba, and the Tarochimaru smoothie. Many guests highlighted the perfect balance of flavors—creamy, not overly sweet, and featuring fresh, chewy Boba. The staff’s friendly and knowledgeable guidance also made the experience even more enjoyable, helping customers easily navigate the extensive menu.

Rumor has it were getting another Starbucks

Chula Vista, brace yourselves—your caffeine cravings are about to get a major upgrade! Thanks to one of my sharp-eyed followers, I just discovered that the old Burger King on East H Street, which closed its doors last year, is being transformed into a brand-new Starbucks… with a drive-thru!

Now, I’ll be honest—I don’t frequent this area often, so I didn’t even realize the Burger King had shut down. For those unfamiliar, it’s tucked away in the corner behind the Costco gas station. And let’s just say this spot is notorious for its chaotic traffic. Between the always-packed Costco gas lines and the general hustle and bustle of the shopping center, getting in and out can feel like a mini obstacle course. So, I have to wonder: is adding a Starbucks drive-thru here the best idea? Then again, when has logic ever stopped the coffee empire from expanding? Money talks, after all.

But here’s the real question: are you excited about this new addition to the neighborhood? Sure, the traffic might be a headache, but let’s be real—when has that ever stopped us from chasing that perfect latte or cold brew fix?

Let’s talk BBQ! Today, I’ve got a big shoutout for Heavy’s Smoke House. If you love BBQ as much as I do, this is a must-try so pay attention.

I first visited Heavy’s last year when he had a 4th and Main Street spot. Now, he’s popping up at various locations, but you can catch him every Wednesday at the Fiesta Street Market in Bonita from 3 to 7.

What makes Heavy’s unique? It’s all about the passion. You can taste it in every bite. Let me tell you, the slow-roasted brisket is out of this world. And those BBQ ribs – absolutely amazing. I went all in with the combo plate: ribs, brisket, and the creamiest mac and cheese. Oh, and here’s the kicker—he added an apple pie pork belly dessert. That dessert and BBQ together is heavenly. I know you might be asking, a pork belly dessert? Just give it a try and let me know what you think.

You know I love to support local Chula Vista and Heavy’s Smokehouse is a great spot for some delicious BBQ.

Today, I’m excited to spotlight a brand-new gem in Bonita—Flora Cafe! This locally owned business is a fantastic addition to our community, and I love getting out to support spots like this. They’ve only been open for a few weeks, and you can find them right on Bonita Road in the Vons Shopping Center.

From the moment you step inside, you’ll notice Flora Cafe isn’t your typical coffee shop. The welcoming vibe and beautiful decor make it a place where you’ll actually want to pause and unwind with your coffee. Let’s face it—most of us are rushing to grab our caffeine and move on, but this cafe invites you to slow down and enjoy the moment.

I love the decor of Flora Cafe in Bonita. They really want to make this an inviting space for you to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee.

On my visit, I tried their Lavender Latte—delicious! And for food, I went with their Chicken Pesto Panini, which is a crowd favorite. The chicken was spot on and very flavorful, and they’ve got plenty of other options, like breakfast sandwiches and bakery treats, to round out their menu.
