A new way to get around Chula Vista is here, and guess what—it’s completely FREE. The Chula Vista Bay Front Shuttle is now running daily, helping residents and visitors move easily between popular destinations, such as the Downtown Third Avenue district. I attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony today and had the opportunity to learn more about it and see the vans in action.
The all-electric shuttle service is ADA accessible and runs every 15 minutes from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Whether you’re commuting, shopping, visiting local attractions, or heading to the waterfront, the shuttle is a great way to get around town.
There are two main routes. The Blue Line connects transit centers, including the H Street Transit Center, the E Street Transit Center, and the brand-new Sweetwater Park. It’s designed for quick connections, especially for those using the trolley or bus system. I know a lot of people who work at the resort will be happy that they no longer have to walk to the H Street trolley stop. There are two different routes for the Chula Vista Bayfront Shuttle. The green line is perfect for getting to Downtown Chula Vista.
The Green Line is an excellent option for exploring. It stops at places like the Gaylord Pacific Resort, Chula Vista Center, Downtown Third Avenue, City Hall, and the Living Coast Discovery Center. This route is ideal for families, tourists, or anyone looking to enjoy a day out along the Bay Front.
As more developments come to the Bay Front area, including parks, shops, and new attractions, projects like the Chula Vista Bay Front Shuttle will make it easier to explore everything the city has to offer. No need to search for parking or worry about traffic—hop on and enjoy the ride.

Every time we post about this event on our social media channels, many of you forget about it. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the weekend.
A New Car Club, Band, and Craft Each Week
Each Sunday features a unique mix of classic cars, live music, and hands-on fun for kids. Whether you’re a fan of hot rods, soulful tunes, or free crafts for the little ones, there’s something new every time you visit. My favorite night is July 13th. The Model A Restorer’s Club & San Diego Antique Motorcycle Club will be the featured club, and they have some beautiful classic Model A cars. Another favorite is the local club, South Bay Cruisers, which will be the featured club on July 6th. No matter which day you choose, you’re sure to have a great time.

Music, Kids Crafts & Sweet Treats
Live bands set the tone each week while kids get creative with fun crafts like beach balls, tote bags, and journals. These activities are always a hit, and supplies can run out, so plan to get there early.
Last week, we bumped into Monica, a local mom who brings her family out every Sunday. She told us, “We love walking around, listening to music, and the free kids activities are such a nice touch. Plus, we always stop for donuts at the Eastlake Donut Bar!”
Shop Local, Eat Local, Support Local Chula Vista
Summer Sundays aren’t just about cars and music. They’re also about community and awareness. Many of the businesses at Village Walk at Eastlake are open during the event and welcome families in for dinner, treats, and special promos. They will also have vendor booths from local businesses in the shopping center. Many of them will offer free information, discounts, and even treats for the kids. It’s a great chance to explore the center and maybe discover your new favorite spot.
This summer, Luscious Dumplings has become a crowd favorite, and we’re all keeping an eye on the soon-to-open Bag of Beans Coffee, which will be opening its very first U.S. location right here in Chula Vista.
There is no better way to wrap up the weekend than walking around the Summer Sundays event at the Village Walk at Eastlake. The last one is July 27th so be sure to come out.
Don’t Miss the Summer Sundays 2025 car show
The event only runs through July 27, so don’t wait too long to check it out. A lot of residents forget it’s happening, which is a shame. This is exactly the kind of thing that makes Chula Vista special. Hopefully, next year, we’ll see it expand to more Sundays.

Happy 4th Of July Chula Vista! Tonight’s the big Chula Vista 4th Fest is lighting up the sky at what I’ll always call the Olympic Training Center. Yes, it has a new name, but let’s be real, old habits die hard.
Gates open at 7 PM, fireworks launch at 9 PM, and, if history is any indication, you’ll want to arrive early. People start lining up around 6 PM and the parking lot turns into a full-blown traffic jam before the sun even sets. If bumper-to-bumper at the training center isn’t your thing, Mountain Hawk Park offers a solid view of the show too. But again, get there early. Chula Vista doesn’t mess around when it comes to fireworks.
Thinking of heading to the event? A couple of pro tips: pack your own food unless you enjoy waiting in a line that feels longer than the Declaration of Independence. Seriously, last year the food situation was bleak. Also, don’t rush out once the fireworks end. Traffic leaving is next-level chaos down Olympic Parkway. We hung out in the lot and let the stampede pass us by. Worth it.

Every year around this time, I can’t help but think back to the old Celebrate Chula Vista event at the J Street Marina. Now that was a Fourth of July party. All-day fun with live music, food vendors, kid activities, and of course, a fireworks show that brought the whole community together. Chula Vista Living even had a booth out there in 2006—me, a stack of magazines, and a camera, just soaking it all in. Sadly, it doesn’t sound like that event is coming back. Even with the shiny new Gaylord Pacific Resort on the rise, I haven’t heard a single fireworks’ worth of news. A drone show would be a nice touch, though, wouldn’t it?
