Feliz Cinco De Mayo, my top three Mexican Restaurants in Chula Vista, is here. One of the things I love about living here is we have so many great Mexican food restaurants and taco shops. I decided to create my favorites list for Cinco De Mayo. These are just some of my go-to joints, and I highly recommend you try them if you have not already. If you have a favorite, visit my YouTube channel or Instagram and let me know your top three. If I have not already tried them, I will be sure to add it to my list for next time.

#1 El Patio Restaurant: This place has been in Chula Vista since 1954 and is my go-to spot when family or friends visit. The food and service are amazing. It does get a little busy on the weekends, and seating is limited, so please be patient. Their breakfast is also really good.

#2 Garcia’s Mexican Food: I recently discovered this place and even did a few videos about it. It’s one of those local-only spots on Main St., and wow, the food is delicious. It is locally owned and you will even see the family in there working and serving you some fantastic Mexican food.

#3 Don Pedro’s Tacos: When ever I get back from a trip Don Pedro’s is my first stop for some yummy rolled tacos or even the carne asada plate. I live two blocks from it so it’s my number one spot when I want some solid Mexican food.

Recently, my wife and I found ourselves wandering through Otay Ranch and decided to explore a new dining spot. We chose Hurricane Grill & Wings, a venue I’ve been eager to check out. The restaurant boasts a spacious interior perfect for large gatherings and a cozy outdoor patio, making it a fantastic spot to enjoy a game with its array of TVs. I’ve also heard rumors of live music on weekends, something I would love to check out.

Our dinner began with garlic fries and a round of refreshing drinks. For her main course, my wife selected the Mexican Street Corn, while I opted for a classic burger, sidestepping the wings this time. Although the onion rings were part of my order, the standout side dish turned out to be the garlic fries. The burger was notably juicy and flavorful, a delightful surprise. I even sampled my wife’s corn and found it equally impressive. The service was warm and welcoming, making our dining experience perfect. Big shout out to Annie for taking care of us.

I would recommend Hurricane Grill & Wings and am already planning a return visit, especially to take advantage of their tempting Tuesday 99 cent wing deal. It’s a spot worth revisiting for anyone looking for a laid-back yet vibrant dining atmosphere.

After I posted my video on Otay Farm Markets flour tortillas, many of you said I should check out Apple Tree Market on Broadway. I was there last week and gave them a try. They’re good but still don’t beat Carnival Market for flour tortillas. These would be my second favorite spot.

The market is excellent, and they have plenty of stuff. If you’re looking for a birthday cake, then make sure you check them out. They have a lot of lovely cakes to purchase. You will also find a whole pan dulce section. The produce looked good, and I got a bollio, which didn’t even come close to Otay Farm Market.
