Chula Vista Entertainment Complex

Chula Vista is about to shine a little brighter. On the city’s east side, the newly completed Chula Vista Entertainment Complex is drawing attention and stirring excitement across the creative community. Spanning 89,000 square feet, the facility is more than just space; it’s a significant step toward reviving San Diego’s once-thriving film scene by opening new doors for local talent.

Local filmmaker Aaron David Roberts guided us through the Chula Vista Entertainment Complex, describing it as a significant step forward for the city. “We knew they had the right idea and the big-picture thinking,” he said. “This is the kind of long-term investment that brings real opportunities to the talented creatives in San Diego.”

From the early 1990s to the mid-2000s, San Diego had a thriving film studio that fostered a strong film and television presence. But for the past 15 years, the region has lacked the infrastructure to support large-scale productions. The Chula Vista Entertainment Complex is designed to change that.

The Chula Vista Entertainment Complex is nearing the opening of phase one of the project. We can’t wait to see the new opportunities it brings to the area.

Set to open next summer, the complex will feature virtual production studios, post-production suites, and coworking spaces tailored for content creators and media professionals. These state-of-the-art facilities aim to attract both local projects and outside production teams.

The projected economic impact is just as impressive. City leaders estimate the Chula Vista Entertainment Complex will generate more than $544 million over the next decade. This includes job creation, increased production spending, and new opportunities for surrounding businesses. Officials believe this number could grow even higher based on demand and facility usage.

Mayor John McCann called the project a milestone moment for Chula Vista, one that signals growth, innovation, and confidence in the local creative economy. As a proud member of this community, I can’t wait to see the stories that will unfold right here in our own backyard. The spotlight is on the Chula Vista Entertainment Complex, and it’s ours to share.
