Chula Vista El Grito Celebration

The Chula Vista El Grito Celebration was a big hit last night. The event kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month in a big way with the annual El Grito Ceremony, celebrating Mexican Independence Day! Thousands gathered in Chula Vista’s Memorial Park to enjoy music, dancing, delicious food, and a vibrant community atmosphere. If you were there, what did you think?

This year’s event was extra special with Ambassador Alicia G. Kerber-Palma, Consul General of Mexico in San Diego, attending her first El Grito in Chula Vista, hosted by Mayor John McCann. Families came together to celebrate Mexican heritage, passing down cultural traditions to the next generation.

Learn about El Grito’s significance and hear from community members about why celebrating their roots is so important. Viva Mexico!

I have lived in this great community for over 30 years. In that time I have seen so many changes both good and bad. My goal is to promote this city and all of the good that goes on here. There are so many local events, small businesses and community groups making this city even better. You can always find me at the events taking photos. This site is a passion project of mine and I want to use this platform to get the community engaged. Get out and enjoy Chula Vista and make sure to follow me on all the socials for more!
