Cruise for the Cause Chula Vista: A Fun Day for a Great local charity
This past Sunday, the Cruise for the Cause Chula Vista event rolled into Otay Ranch Town Center, drawing car enthusiasts from all over San Diego. This annual event, a beloved tradition since 2006, showcases low-riders, classic cars, bikes, and motorcycles, all for a worthy cause: supporting the Emilio Nares Foundation.
The Cruise for the Cause Chula Vista’s Evolution
Xavier the X-Man from Magic 92.5 started this event to bring the community together while raising funds for children battling cancer. This year, the event took place on June 30th, a shift from its usual August date. With over 400 cars registered, the turnout was impressive, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere.
If you love low-riders, then this was your event
San Diego’s low-rider community showed up in full force, displaying their beautifully customized vehicles. Attendees could admire a diverse array of cars, bicycles, and motorcycles. The event wasn’t just about the cars, though. Live music from local artists, dancing, and various local vendors added to the festive spirit.
Supporting a Worthy Cause
A highlight of the day was when Xavier took the stage to thank local car clubs for their generous donations to the Emilio Nares Foundation. Elsa Morales-Roth, the foundation’s Executive Director, shared insights into their critical work. The foundation provides invaluable support to low-income families navigating their child’s cancer diagnosis, including offering “Emilio’s Snack Bags” to children undergoing chemotherapy.

An Impressive Fundraising Effort
This year’s event raised over $100,000 for the Emilio Nares Foundation. These funds will help provide free transportation services and other essential support to children battling cancer and their families. The generosity of the community was truly heartwarming.

Community Testimonials and Highlights
A Chula Vista resident, Maria expressed her surprise and delight at discovering the event. “I didn’t know this was going on right here in my own backyard. It’s amazing to see all these beautiful cars.”
Our very own Kurt Bunch from Chula Vista Living was also present, capturing photos and videos and even chatting with Xavier about the event’s impact. “It’s fantastic; I love attending this event yearly and supporting Xavier. Thankfully, it’s not as hot as it was last year, so I think more people turned out to see it.”
Elsa Morales-Roth, the Emilio Nares Foundation Executive Director, was also blown away by the size of the event. She has worked for the foundation for only six months, so this was her first time attending the event. “To see all these people and the love for Xavier & our organization is amazing. I had heard about this event, but seeing it and being here is shocking; I love it.”
