Living Coast Discovery Center Farm to Bay

The Farm to Bay Chula Vista event, hosted by the Living Coast Discovery Center, returns on August 2 with its signature “Feast Among Sea Creatures” experience. This unique adults-only fundraiser invites guests to enjoy a sunset dinner while surrounded by the diverse wildlife of San Diego Bay. Attendees can expect gourmet food, local wine, and interactive encounters with animal ambassadors, including owls, sharks, sea turtles, jellyfish, and other marine creatures. Held in the scenic San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge, the event blends nature, education, and community impact in one evening.

Now in its 16th year, Farm to Bay Chula Vista is the nonprofit center’s largest annual fundraiser. In 2024, the event raised over $128,000 to support youth education programs, including summer camps, field trips, and classroom workshops. With federal funding for environmental education decreasing, the support raised through this event helps keep these programs accessible to local schools, often at no cost.

Farm to Bay is also recognized for its commitment to sustainability. The event aims to be zero-waste, with less than 10% of the trash sent to landfills. Vendors use compostable or reusable materials, and volunteers manage waste sorting to maximize recycling and composting.
