Grand Opening of the Chula Vista Museum

Museum volunteers are in the final stages of preparing for the Grand Opening of the Chula Vista Museum and History Center, located at 261 Garrett Ave in Chula Vista, along with the debut of its Inaugural Exhibition, “The Chula Vista Japanese American Story.” The exhibit traces the story of roughly 500 Chula Vista farmers of Japanese descent who were incarcerated following the U.S. response to the attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941, and documents the resilience of the Chula Vista Japanese American community as it rebuilt and thrived in the decades that followed. The community is invited to join Friday, September 18 from 5 to 7 PM, or Saturday, September 19 from 1 to 3 PM, for this special event, featuring a ribbon ceremony, exhibit tour, refreshments, and community leaders.
