Animals on the Bay Day
If you’ve never been, this is the perfect opportunity to visit. Last year, I had a great time walking the trails, visiting the animal exhibits, and learning from passionate staff and volunteers. From hawks and sea turtles to interactive exhibits, the Living Coast offers something for every age and interest.
This year, Animals on the Bay Day features timed ticketing to help ease the long wait times for the shuttle that were experienced last year. Tickets must be purchased in advance for one of the following entry windows: 10:00–11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., 1:00–2:00 p.m., or 2:30–3:30 p.m. Guests are welcome to enjoy the event for as long as they wish once inside, but these ticket times apply to shuttle boarding and entry only. Attendees must park at the Living Coast Center’s designated lot and board the shuttle from there.
Participating community partners this year include the Bonita Museum and Cultural Center, California Native Plant Society, Circulate San Diego, Chula Vista Park Rangers, Chula Vista Police Department, County of San Diego, Fleet Science Center, Free Flight Bird Sanctuary, and GRID Alternatives. Each group will be on-site to share information and hands-on activities related to conservation, science, and local community initiatives.
Food trucks including Kayak Cafe, Mahalo Shaved Ice, and My Pozole will be on-site throughout the day offering bites and refreshments.
Please note, a very limited number of walk-up tickets will be available on the day of the event. Guests are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to secure entry.
