CV Art Fest: A Celebration of Local Art and Community

CV Art Fest in Chula Vista for 2024

The CV Art Fest returned this past weekend and was bigger and better than ever. Held on Saturday, August 10th, from 12 PM to 6 PM, this event brought together the Chula Vista community to celebrate local art, live music, and family-friendly activities. Here’s a look back at the highlights of this vibrant community event.

A Thriving Community Turnout

This year’s CV Art Fest saw a significant increase in attendance compared to last year. The event, which struggled to gain exposure during its inaugural run, made a strong comeback, attracting a diverse crowd of families, art enthusiasts, and community members. The positive energy was palpable as people relaxed on the lawn, enjoyed the music, and supported local vendors.

CV Art Fest had some good vibes all day
Everyone had a great time at the CV Art Fest this past Saturday. There were good vibes all around. Along with all the art, they also had summertime activities for people to enjoy.

Showcasing Local Talent

The CV Art Fest indeed highlighted the artistic talent within Chula Vista. From photographers like Steve Wood, who captured stunning sunset photos, to independent artists like Karen Alleluia, selling her artwork and stickers, the variety of art displayed was impressive. The event also featured live painting sessions by Ground Floor Murals and Shirish Villaseñor, adding an interactive element that engaged attendees throughout the day.

Music That Set the Tone

Live music was a major draw at the CV Art Fest. The day started out with a performance by Shwayze, setting a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Later, Bruno and the Hooligans turned up the energy with a performance with the crowd dancing on the lawn. The mix of music genres catered to all ages and added to the overall festive vibe of the event.

Family-Friendly Fun

One of the standout features of the CV Art Fest was its family-friendly environment. The event offered a range of activities that allowed kids to get hands-on with art. The Mad Hatter’s hat-making activity was a hit for kids and adults, while a pottery-making class, stencil, and patch print workshop provided creative outlets for the whole family. Seeing kids fully engaged and smiling as they created their own art was heartwarming.

Supporting Local Vendors

The festival also supported local vendors, offering various products, from jewelry and clothing to unique art pieces. Food options were available, with the coffee cart and shaved ice vendor being top-rated, especially in the warmer weather. However, there’s room for growth here, and adding more food vendors in the future could enhance the experience for attendees.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for CV Art Fest?

The success of this year’s CV Art Fest has already sparked plans for next year. The City of Chula Vista has announced that the event will continue annually, which is fantastic news for the community. There are a few areas for improvement, such as increasing the number of food vendors and addressing parking challenges—perhaps by adding a shuttle service. But overall, the CV Art Fest has solidified its place as a beloved community event.

Mark your calendars for the 2025 CV Art Fest—you won’t want to miss it! Look for updates as the event date approaches. You can also visit their website for more details and updates.
