Olympic Training Center 2800 Olympic Parkway Official Website: USOlympicTeam.com
There are only three in the world, and one is on Chula Vista's fringe. Hugging the Otay Lake Reservoir atop 155 acres, the Chula Vista U.S. Olympic Training Center is one of America's rare facilities where world-class athletes, top-notch athletic performers, and U.S. team hopefuls dedicate themselves for the chance to earn an Olympic gold medal. The U.S. Olympic Committee has training centers in Lake Placid and Colorado Springs, but only at Chula Vista can athletes train year-round in warm weather for numerous sports. As Patrice Milkovich, the center's director, says, "This is a land where Olympic dreams are born and made." Opened in the summer of 1995, the Chula Vista Center has groomed handfuls of Olympic medalists at its tremendous facility, right in the quiet backyard of EastLake. It's impressive to know America's current and future champions are training here in Chula Vista, but few are aware of the exceptional privilege to see their abilities in person- for free! The Chula Vista U.S. Olympic Training Center is open to the public with guided tours and offered daily by the center's friendly volunteer staff. Audrey Voight, a volunteer of two years, smiles as she comments, "I wanted to meet people from all over the world, and I do! I love to show off our wonderful facility."
