#1 Jimmy's by the Park Location: 333 Third Ave., Chula Vista Ca. 91910(619)600-4101
Now if you have lived in Chula Vista for a long time then you will probably remember when this location was Harvey’s Restaurant & Bakery. Then it was sold and turned into Huddle by the Park, which closed soon after opening. After that it was some Mexican Restaurant that was closed more times then it was open. I still miss Harvey’s bakery, the apple turnovers were amazing. Well if you have been downtown recently then you have probably seen the new restaurant, Jimmy’s by the Park. We were skeptical at first, but after trying them out for dinner for the first time we’re impressed. The menu is huge, so many choices. They do offer breakfast all day, so that is a big plus. The portions are large; we got plenty to fill up on. Everyone was so nice and we even got the chance to meet the owner Alvin. All of us were very pleased with the place and hope it will make it on the downtown area. Give them a try when you’re on Third Avenue, we’re sure you’ll be back just like us. #2 Bonita Jogging Trail Location: 4548 Sweetwater Road, Chula Vista Ca. You can tell by the change in weather that summer is right around the corner. It’s the perfect time to get outside and get active again. Chula Vista has so many walking jogging trails, but one of our favorites is the Bonita jogging trail next to Rhor Park. This is a 3.3mile course circles around the park and the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course. The wide trail offers plenty of room for both joggers and walkers alike. The trail cuts along the golf course so there are some beautiful areas you go by. You can start from any point, but Rhor Park seems to be the best spot to park your car. There is also some new fitness equipment on the eastside of the park for you to loosen up on. The trail does get busy later in the day and on the weekends. For those who don't want to walk alone the Bonita Road Runners holds walks at various times during the week and weekends, visit their website for full info on how to become a member. #3 Super Wash N Dry Laundromat Location: 360 E Street Chula Vista Ca. 91910 (619)934-8536
Looking to wash you king size comforter or maybe an area rug? Maybe your complex doesn't offer a laundry facility. Super Wash N Dry is one of the best laundry mats in the city. It is always very clean, plus there is an on site attendant looking after the place. Located on E Street right before Fourth Ave., Super Wash & Dry is opened from 6am till 10:00pm. They have plenty of smaller machines and larger multi load machines available. We love the fact that they offer free WIFI, that way you can wash your clothes while you visit our website, just a suggestion. They also offer coffee and tea for a buck. For those who don't bring a computer they also offer plenty tv's for you to watch your favorite show, they attendant will change the channel if you ask. The next time you need to get some laundry done keep Super Wash & Dry high on your list. #4 Souplantation Location: 1810 Main Ct. Chula Vista Ca. 91911 (619)216-9843
This was a long time coming to Chula Vista. We can still remember when the rumors were flying around that Souplantation was coming to the Chula Vista area. When it first opened, in the Chula Vista Crossings shopping center, lines were out the door most nights. Even now the place still manages to draw a good crowd. We love going here to get our fill of fruit and veggies galore, plus the occasional frozen yogurt can’t hurt. They also have some amazing chocolate cookies, if you are lucky they hand out a few for free once in awhile. The décor is not our favorite; it kind of looks like the place is still not done. Most nights you’ll have a few minutes wait due to the crowds. If you just want to grab and go then they have the coolest feature. You can just grab a to-go box and walk down the center of the buffet, by passing the line entirely, really goof for a quick lunch stop. #5 Bowlin's Auto Service Location: 850 Broadway Chula Vista, Ca. 91910(619)422-9241
We have seen it on the news a lot lately how many people are opting to fix their cars rather then trade them in due to the economy. But it’s always hard to find a good mechanic; everyone worries if they are getting the right price for the job. One of the places we trust the most is Bowlins Auto Service on Broadway. I personally have been taking both my cars there for years now. They pretty much know my cars when I pull in. They have been in Chula Vista for a long time. Bowlins will give you the full break down on what you need and how much it will cost. I have never doubted their assessment of any repair they have done for me. Bowlins offers full repair, plus brakes, alignments and more for most domestic cars. Most repairs are done that day so you can get back to what ever you have going on. If you car is giving you some trouble then Bowlins Auto Repair gets our recommendation.
