Looking for a place to grab a burger and beer, then the Brew House in Eastlake is the spot
I remember when Miguel’s and Islands were about the only thing decent in the Eastlake…
Each year the Chula Vista Police Department opens their doors and invites the public to come take part in the National Night Out event. This gives the community a chance to see up close and personal what the police department uses to keep the public safe. The event is always well attended and kids love coming out to see their local heroes. The police department also serves up free food for everyone who comes out.
Along with police demonstrations, exhibits and tours they also have community booths and public safety information. One of the biggest crowd pleasing events is the Chula Vista Fire Department demonstrating the Jaws of Life tool on a junk car. This is always a crowd pleaser, to see the CVFD turn a car into a convertible in under ten minutes. They also have the police K9 unit demonstrate how they stop criminals.
There are also several community organizations passing out information on health and safety. Two of the biggest sponsors of the event, Target and Wal-Mart provide goodie bags for the kids. This year athletes from the Olympic Training Center were on hand to give out autographs and posters. The free tour of the Chula Vista Police station is always a huge draw. This gives you the chance to see inside the police station and learn about what they do to help fight crime.
The Chula Vista Police National Night out event is partnered with the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). This is a nationwide campaign that involves citizens, law enforcement, civic groups, businesses and neighborhood organizations. It is designed to heighten crime and drug awareness and strengthen neighborhood sprit and police partnerships. To learn more about the NATW you can visit their website by clicking here.
