It is that time of year again. You know its summer when the classic cars take over downtown Chula Vista on a Tuesday night.
For the next six weeks you can come on down every Tuesday for the newly renamed Village Classic Car Show. If you remember last year it was called the Blast from the Past Car Show, well it might have a new name, but it is still a great event for the community. The event kicks off at 5pm and runs till 8pm. You will find cars parked all along Third Avenue from G Street to Davidson and a little past that. Like previous years, each night will have a different theme, but there will always be plenty of cars to see.
When I heard that the South Bay Cruisers were no longer running the event I was a bit skeptical. Not sure why they pulled away from the event, but I think it was all the flap with the Chula Vista Police Department. Now the Third Avenue Village Association has now taken over and gave it a brand new name. They still had a great turn out, so many cars all lined up ready to show off.
Along with the cars they also had a little fashion show put on by a Lili’s Creations on Third Avenue. Every night they will have something going on around the fountains. They will also have a different theme, last night it was salute to our heroes. Chula Vista Police, US Border patrol and the Marines were present. Police Chief David Bejarano was there to hand out some recognition awards to members of the military. If you want to see the full schedule of the upcoming cruise nights you can see the list here.
If you love classic cars then make sure you come out one night and check it out. Below is a gallery of photos I took while I was out there. I’ll be going on other nights and will snap some more photos. You can also check out my You Tube channel for videos of the events by clicking here. If you go, let us know below or on our Facebook page what you think of the new format.
