The Easter Bunny will be working overtime in South County this season. For the third year in a row, Otay Ranch Town Center is partnering with radio stations Magic 92.5 and Z90.3 to host the “Bunny Drop” on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Children and their families will scour the great lawn at Otay Ranch Town Center for one of 40,000 eggs, making it one of the largest events of its kind in the county.

Kids will be able to partake in several free activities throughout the day, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The “Rad Hatter” will lead a fun arts project where kids use recycled paper grocery bags and various decorative elements to make their own one-of-a-kind Easter hat. So Cal Bounce will also be on hand with several bounce house games and the Easter Bunny will be posing for photos (Parents can bring their own cameras).

The 2012 Bunny Drop will also feature performances by the Mariachiquillos of National City School District (a fun kids Mariachi Band) and Zumba Kids by Lotus Fitness and Wellness Center.

The actual Bunny Drop is divided into several ‘heats,’ organized by age groups:
[custom_list type=”check”]

  • Age 3 and under: 11 a.m. and Noon (2 drops)
  • Ages 4 – 7: 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (2 drops)
  • Ages 8 – 12: Noon

Adults can get into the action as well, by signing up for Otay Ranch Town Center’s premium shopping rewards program called “The Club” and spin the wheel for various prizes throughout the day.

As an added bonus, anyone who registers on the Magic 92.5 web site before April 7 will be entered into the special “Golden Egg Hunt,” which will take place throughout the Otay Ranch Town Center. Participants will seek out a golden egg, which could contain one of 10 $25 retailer gift cards.

A complete rundown of all activities during the “Bunny Drop” will be posted on the Otay Ranch Town Center Facebook page and interested residents are encouraged to “like” Otay Ranch Town Center on Facebook to learn more. Families can also visit the center website here for more details.
